Our Story
A company built before it opened its doors.
A month went into deciding what kind of company this would be, before we took a single client.
The pressure sits in the wrong place.
Property decisions in Melaka are often made under pressure — a launch weekend, a limited-unit release, a sense that hesitation means missing out. Lanthorn was founded on a simpler idea: that clients decide better when they are given time, clear information and honest counsel, not urgency.
The team includes people who came from one of Melaka's largest property agencies. They had seen the traditional model closely enough to know what it does well, and where it leaves a buyer alone — usually the moment the commission is paid.
So Lanthorn is not built as an agency that sells property. It is built as an advisory centre: the advice before the decision, the sale itself, and the years that follow it.
What we spent it on.
We spent it meeting investors, developers and people who had spent whole careers in this industry — not to raise a profile, but to pressure-test how the company should run. Funding, legal structure, team structure, the standard an advisor is held to. Where there was no established answer, we worked one out.
It would have been faster to open first and fix things later. But most of what a client actually experiences — whether their advisor knows the project properly, whether anyone is accountable after the booking — is decided by that groundwork, and it is very hard to retrofit.
Advice, sale, support.
Three parts, and a company is usually only good at the first two. The third is where we decided to be different.
Advice
The right property, not the available one
We start with what you can carry and how you actually intend to live, then work back to a shortlist. Sometimes that shortlist has nothing on it yet, and we will say so.
Sell
Specialists, not brochure readers
An advisor is expected to know a development properly before selling it — what it is good for, and who it does not suit. Product knowledge is trained, not assumed.
Support
Still here after the keys
Renovation financing, fit-out, property and homestay management, rental support. Most agencies go quiet once the commission is paid. That is the part we built the company around.
How we choose what to represent.
We look at positioning, location fundamentals and the developer's track record before agreeing to represent a project. When we take one on, our advisors are expected to know it in enough depth to answer the questions clients actually ask.
